- “Here we are, mateys! My good old real map says that the treasure is over by Thumbs Up Rock.”
- ―Cubby
Thumbs Up Rock is a rock formation, resembling a hand giving a thumbs up, hidden deep within the Never Land Jungle featured in the Disney Junior animated series, Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Thumbs Up Rock was originally the hideaway of the Golden Dinghy.
Role in the series[]
Thumbs Up Rock first appeared in the episode "Cubby's Mixed Up Map". Jake and his crew decide to search for the the legendary Golden Dinghy. While passing Shipwreck Beach, Captain Hook and his crew were hiding within one of the wrecks overhearing about the young pirate team's quest. Bones gives Hook the idea to swipe Cubby's map, allowing Hook to reach the treasure and replace Cubby's map with a fake one made by Sharky so that Jake and his crew will be unable to meddle in through the jungle path. Captain Hook switches Cubby's map with the fake one to keep Jake and his friends busy. Hook acts like he accidentally bumps into Cubby while trailing through the Never Jungle when he switches maps. Jake and crew, unaware of Hook actions, ask the captain if he would like to join them find the Golden Dinghy, but Hook nicely declines the young pirates' offer as he claimed to be on his own treasure hunt and rushes into the brush with the rest of his crew. Later on, Cubby and the rest of the crew learn that they have been tricked by Captain Hook when they kept going around in circles, and that one of the locations on Cubby's map is replaced with an image of Hook. Proving his resourcefulness and keen memory, Cubby recalls all the locations leading to the Golden Dinghy. After retrieving his real map, after Hook and his bumbling crew lose it to some mischievous monkeys in Monkey Jungle, they press onward to Thumbs Up Rock and the treasure. Once at Thumbs Up Rock, Captain Hook manages to arrive and decides to claim the riches for himself, but all Hook saw was a dirty old rowboat, believing Cubby's map was useless and that the Golden Dinghy must be an old pirates tale. Hook decides to abandon the treasure hunt, not wanting to waste any more time, as he and the rest of his crew head back to the Jolly Roger through the Never Land Jungle. Jake was not fooled, as he uses his Forever Sword to scrape some dirt and grime from the old rowboat, revealing it to be the Golden Dinghy.
