Plot
Jake and his crew see Belch Mountain threatening Mermaid Lagoon. Captain Gizmo arrives, digging a hole for the lava to head into instead. When a rockslide happens next, Captain Gizmo punches them out of the way before one of them hits him, powering him down. Cubby sees Gizmo's golden gear broken and decides for Jake and his crew to get another. According to Jake, they can get another golden gear from Gear Island, and they use the Never Sea Compass to get there.
Once at Gear Island, Jake and his crew find out that the whole island is mechanical. Crab bots capture them and take them inside, where they are confronted by Doctor Undergear. After introducing himself, he tells Jake and his crew that they are unwelcome intruders on his secret island lair. After Jake mentions that his crew are trying to help Captain Gizmo, Doctor Undergear mentions that he planned to finish building him later, but a bad storm washed away the crate containing his parts to Pirate Island. After Cubby brings up the broken golden gear, Doctor Undergear reveals to have put it in by mistake, and Captain Gizmo's proper gear is a purple one.
Doctor Undergear installs the purple gear on Captain Gizmo, who goes back to what Doctor Undergear describes as the ultimate mechanical henchman built to lead all of his insidious inventions and monstrous machines, to the dismay of Jake and his crew. On orders from Doctor Undergear, Captain Gizmo places Jake and his crew in the scrap heap. There, they realize that they will come up with a way to reunite with Captain Gizmo again, and Jake decides for them to match Doctor Undergear's mechanical might by making something to help them boost their pirate skills.
As Doctor Undergear plans to complete his latest invention with Captain Gizmo that would make him unstoppable, Jake and his crew arrive, with Jake controlling a Pirate Power Suit they made. Doctor Undergear notices this while stating that he likes Captain Gizmo the way he is, and Captain Gizmo calls all crab bots to stop Jake and his crew.
Jake decides to take care of Captain Gizmo and the crabs while Izzy, Cubby, and Skully find a new golden gear. Jake throws a crab bot to another, causing them to target Doctor Undergear instead. As Jake goes to help Captain Gizmo, Izzy, Cubby, and Skully are searching for the golden gear. Jake frees himself from the net with his Mighty Captain Sword before wrapping Captain Gizmo with the net. Captain Gizmo soon crashes into Doctor Undergear before powering down. Jake tosses the purple gear into the scrap heap as Cubby finds another golden gear. Doctor Undergear blames Jake and his crew for making wrenchable ruin of his evil inventions. Cubby places the golden gear on Captain Gizmo, powering him back up and making him work for Jake and his crew again.
Doctor Undergear's last-ditch attempt with his Mechanical Magnet fails, as although it breaks apart the Pirate Power Suit, Jake and his crew escape thanks to Izzy's Pixie Dust. As Doctor Undergear redirects his magnet towards them, it attracts the gears. Defeated, he vows revenge. Jake and his crew return to Pirate Island to put all the gold doubloons they collected into their Team Treasure Chest. As they celebrate reuniting with Captain Gizmo, he gives them a group hug, with Skully requesting a group high-five instead.
