Skull Rock is a large rock formation, shaped like a skull, located off the shores of Never Land, featured in the Disney Junior animated series, Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Skull Rock is one of the few places that Captain Hook and his crew could call home on the island (other than the Jolly Roger and Hook's Treasure Cave). However, since Skull Rock is surrounded by water, Tick-Tock the Crocodile could come in to try and catch Hook at any time.

During the course of the original film, with the assistance of Mr. Smee, Captain Hook captures the Indian princess, Tiger Lily, and takes her to Skull Rock. Captain Hook places the bounded Tiger Lily on a rock sticking out of the sea. He offers to set her free if she reveals the home of Peter Pan. He points out the rising tide. However, Tiger Lily knows better than to take the word of Captain Hook and refuses to talk. Losing his patience, Hook screams that Tiger Lily has one more chance.

Unknown to any of them, Peter Pan and Wendy Darling have spotted the trio. Peter Pan is able to spook Hook and Smee by mimicking as a sea spirit. When Hook leaves to find the source of the voice, Peter Pan begins imitating Hook's voice to order Smee to return Tiger Lily to her people. Smee complies, but is then yelled at by the real Captain Hook, who orders Smee to put Tiger Lily back where he had her. Pan and Hook go back and forth until Peter Pan is discovered by Hook. After a short battle, Hook is chased off by Tick-Tock the Crocodile. By this time, Tiger Lily has almost sunk beneath the rising tide. Peter Pan doesn't notice this until it is pointed out by Wendy. Peter Pan rescues Tiger Lily, and they, along with Wendy, return to the Indian Camp.

Role in the series

Skull Rock first appeared in the episode "The Key to Skull Rock", where Jake, Izzy, Cubby and Skully journey to Skull Rock to unlock a door with a skeleton key given to them by Peter Pan. While traversing through the Never Sea to Skull Rock, the key is stolen by Captain Hook, forcing Jake and his crew given chase. The key is later recovered when Hook and Smee are forced to abandon ship when the Jolly Roger gets stuck within Never Sea Twin Tunnel and the duo flee from the crocodile. Once at Skull Rock, Jake and crew were about to open the door on Skull Rock, but Hook tries one last attempt to snatch the key away yet again, but in his effort to recover the key, angers a large flock of seagulls, causing Hook to fall into the sea. With Hook foiled, Jake and his crew uncover an observatory inside Skull Rock.

When they regroup at Skull Rock, they spot the last page soaring overhead as Captain Hook swoops in and manages to catch it. But as Hook gloats, he cannot seem to recall why the pages were so important to him. Jake recaps Hook on the events that conspired, regarding the pages, and tells him he needed to read it. As Hook reads the page, much to his surprise, he is not portrayed as a bumbling fool, but a nefarious villain of all time, much to Hook's delight. Jake warns Hook if he tries to destroy the book, then he and everyone will never remember their adventures and no one will remember Captain Hook again. Hook refuses to be forgotten and decides not to destroy the book and gives it back to Wendy.

Little did ShiverJack know, Jake managed to reach Izzy's pixie dust pouch just in time and soon confronts ShiverJack at Skull Rock, to which ShiverJack plans on turning into his throne. ShiverJack has grown tired of Jake meddling and attempts to freeze him once more but the magic of Jake's Forever Sword proved too powerful, even for ShiverJack's trident. A short battle between both pirates begins, as ShiverJack manages to knock Jake's sword away. Believing he has truly won, ShiverJack transforms Skull Rock into his icy throne. This is short-lived, as Skully has returned with Captain Flynn, who has a magical orb containing the Never Winds of Marlagoth, which has the power to melt even ShiverJack enchanted ice. Jake loads the orb into the cannon aboard Flynn's ship and fires it on ShiverJack, weakening both the ice elemental and reverting his ice magic from Never Land. ShiverJack is last seen as Jake casts him out of Never Land.
