Pixie Dust is a magical, golden glitter-like powder that grants the power of flight, which is fueled by happy thoughts. It is featured in the Disney Junior animated series, Jake and the Never Land Pirates.

Description[]

Before Peter Pan set off to explore the wonders of the lands beyond the Never Sea, he asked the fairies to bestow Izzy with a small pouch of pixie dust, to which she can only use in the case of emergencies. In its common appearance, pixie dust is nothing more than a golden, sparkling powder. It enables fairies or other beings the ability to fly.

Role in the series[]

Pixie Dust appears in the episode "Hide the Hideout!". Jake and his pirate crew were having a fun day on Pirate Island until they spot the Jolly Roger approaching the island. Captain Hook plans to uncover the secrets of Pirate Island and make it his hideout. With the assistance of Mr. Smee, Captain Hook tried to find the means to gain access into the hideout unaware that Jake and his crew were defending their hideout.As Hook and Smee climb up the side of the Pirate Island, they uncover one of the secret hatch doors.Izzy use a pinch of her Pixie Dust on Cubby, who flies out and starts acting like a buzzing fly to distract Hook from entering the hideout.

In the episode "The Old Shell Game," Izzy finds a pink polka-dotted shell washed onto Pirate Island beach, she decides to put it on display in her shell collection. However Captain Hook, sees Izzy's shell, and decides to take the shell for himself, to add it to his own shell collection. Hook manages to steal it from the Jake and his crew. Jake and his crew quickly climb aboard Bucky and heads off after Hook. Jake and the group manage to beat Hook to the shell, just barely, only to find the seashell has moved to a high cliff. Skully manages to claim the seashell from Hook, but Hook is able to nab it in the end, only for the shell to pinch him. Izzy finally manages to reclaim the seashell from Hook and See after using her Pixie Dust to fly after the villainous duo as they flees into Seashell Beach.

In the episode "Izzy's Pirate Puzzle" while spying on Jake and his crew Captain Hook decides to steal Izzy's puzzle box mistaking it for a treasure chest and flees to his hidden treasure cave on Never Land. Jake and his crew soon uncover Hook's Hidden Treasure Cave due to a large number of bright, flashing lights signs and large arrows marking the entrance to the cave. As Jake and his crew venture through the cave, they passed various tricks and traps until they reached Hook's treasure room. Captain Hook fed up due to his various failed attempts to force open the puzzle box failed, Hook decides to smash it with a large rock. Izzy quickly went into action using her Pixie Dust on herself so she could fly, swooped in and retrieving the box before Hook could smash it open.

In the episode "Basketballs Aweigh!", Jake and his crew are playing basketball on Bucky. Cubby needs practice making a basket, so Izzy tries to help boost Cubby's confidences by sprinkling pixie dust on the ball. Unfortunately, it causes the basketball to float away. Captain Hook ends up catching the ball, and he refuses to give it back until a wave washes it away.

In the episode "Happy Hook Day!" Captain Hook and his crew made their escape to Shipwreck Rock after a long chase across Never Land with Skully's stolen birthday presents. Jake and his crew manage to catch up to Hook and his crew with the help of Izzy's Pixie Dust manage to retrieve all of Skully's presents and return to Pirate Island to continue the celebration.

In the episode "Free Wheeling Fun",Captain Hook and Mr. Smee manage to sneak off with Jake and his pirate crew's bicycle built for three and flee into the Never Land Jungle with Jake and his crew in pursuit.In order to evade capture Hook and Smee head into Big Tree Forest, but using a large pea pod as a sled, Jake and his crew manage to catch up to Hook and Smee, who could not stop as they slide the bicycle out of control into Deep Steep Canyon. Hook and Smee abandon the bike as it falls off the edge of the canyon, landing on a low hanging tree branch. Using her pixie dust, Izzy was able to retrieve the bike, allowing the young pirate crew to soar with the bike back to Pirate Island, much to a furious Captain Hook's dismay, losing yet another treasure.

In the episode "Surfin' Turf," Jake, Izzy, Cubby and Skully are at Mermaid Lagoon getting surfing lessons from their mermaid friend Marina. After Izzy's lesson, her surfboard is stolen by Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. Jake and his crew, accompanied by Marina set off to take back their treasure. They almost catch Hook, until he is scared away by Tick-Tock the Crocodile, resulting into Hook and Smee riding down the Red River at incredible speeds to fast for land. Marina gives Jake the idea of getting into the water and swimming down the river instead. Captain Hook and Smee are about to fall off a Rainbow Falls but grab onto vines leaving the surfboard. Jake and Marina swim up to the board before it falls and just before they do instead, Izzy throws her pixie dust onto the surfboard having Jake and Marina fly through the sky on it.

In the episode special "Peter Pan Returns", after Peter Pan, accompanied by Jake and his crew, arrive at the Valley of Shadows in time to stop Captain Hook from releasing Peter Pan's shadow into the valley, in hopes that Pan would never be able to find it. Furious that his plans were foiled once again, Captain Hook decides to sink Pan's shadow into the bottom of the Never Sea. Using Bucky, Peter and Jake and the crew catch up to the Jolly Roger. A battle follows, including events such as Izzy, Cubby and Skully getting trapped under the sail and Jake grabbing the chest with Peter's shadow inside, but his vest is caught by Captain Hook's hook. The fight ends with the shadow being reattached to Peter, the villains falling overboard and Tick-Tock the Crocodile chasing after them. In celebration of the success, Peter produces pixie dust, allowing Jake, Izzy, Cubby fly through the sky back to Pirate Island.

In the episode "Pixie Dust Away!", Izzy loses all her pixie dust in the Never Sea. The Fairies inform Izzy and the other young pirates that they can restore their supply by visiting the Fountain of Forever, hidden on top of Pixie Peak on Never Land, which produces pixie dust all year round. Unaware as they travel through the Never Jungle to find the Fountain of Forever, Captain Hook and his scurvy crew overhear. Knowing how valuable the power of pixie dust is, Hook plots to take the Fountain of Forever for himself.

In the special "Jake's Never Land Rescue", the Guardian informs Jake and his crew that only the pirate who truly believes in himself can save Never Land from vanishing completely. Jake must break off from the rest of his crew and go alone to save the Forever Tree. Unknown to Jake at the time, the magical ball of light, sent by the Guardian to guided him on his quest to save Never Land, was Tinker Bell. And furthermore, the Guardian was none other than Peter Pan, as he and Tink were testing Jake, for one day, he will become Never Land's guardian. Peter Pan gives Jake the power to fly without pixie dust and invites Jake to explore the worlds beyond Never Land, but he would have to part with his friends. While flying with Tinker Bell and Peter Pan, Jake could not shake the feeling his crew may need his help, and quickly soars back to Pirate Island. Jake was right to worry, as Captain Hook had returned and has trapped Izzy, Cubby, and Skully in a cage and attempts to smash the Team Treasure Chest open, until Jake, Tinker Bell and Peter Pan intervene, forcing Captain Hook to retreat, but not empty handed. He manages to capture Tinker Bell and uses her pixie dust on the Jolly Roger, granting the ship flight and allowing Hook the means to plunder the richest beyond the Never Sea. Peter and Jake soon chase after Captain Hook aboard Bucky, and as diversion, Hook imprisons Tinker Bell within a lantern and tosses her overboard, forcing Peter Pan to give up the chase to rescue and free Tinker Bell from lantern, while Jake was left to deal with Hook.

Pixie Dust is featured in the episode "Flying", where Jake shows the viewers how to fly while retrieving Skully's presents from Captain Hook and his crew, who flee to Shipwreck Rock.

Jake's Buccaneer Blast[]

Pixie Dust is featured in the Lego Duplo spin-off. In "The Treasure of Belch Mountain", Jake and his crew journey to the belly of Belch Mountain to find one of the Pirate Pieces of Eight inside.

In the episode "The Never Land Pirate Pieces of Eight", according to legend, Jake and his crew need to find the final piece of eight, the Pirate Piece of Forever Tree, to complete and reveal the Buccaneer Blast of treasure. After foiling Hook's plot once again, Jake and his crew, accompanied by Peter Pan, gather all the Pirate Pieces and fly to Buccaneer Mountain.

Pixie Dust makes a regular appearance in books, comics, and other printed stories in the series. Like in the series, Pixie Dust is only used in emergencies or solving a pirate problem.

Pixie Dust is the main focus in the book Pixie Dust Away!. Izzy reveals how important and special her gift of Pixie Dust is for emergencies.

Pixie Dust is featured in its own class in the Disney Junior app "Jake's Never Land Pirate School App." Izzy and Skully teach the player how to fly through various mazes and trace shapes to scare away Captain Hook, with cutouts blocking your way. In the Disney Junior online game "Cubby´s Climb of Courage", Izzy use her pixie dust on the surfboard that Cubby rides as he is tasked with returning a golden egg back to its nest, while evading Captain Hook and Mr. Smee's attempts to stop him.

Pixie Dust plays a key role in the Disney Junior online game "Jake's Never Land Rescue Game" as one of the objects Jake has to retrieve in his quest to save Never Land from disappearing. Jake heads to Fountain of Forever in Pixie Dust Valley. In the online game "Soaring Over Summer Arcade", pixie dust is among the various power-ups the player can gain to help traverse and evade the various stage hazards. Pixie Dust is featured in the video game LeapTV™ Disney Jake and the Never Land Pirates Educational, Active Video Game. During the "Fly with Izzy" segment the player plays as Izzy and must fly around SkyBird Island and collect gold doubloons from the sky.

Disney Junior Live-Pirate & Princess Adventure Tour[]

Pixie dust is used in the in the live performance. When Jake and his crew catch up to Hook on Never Land to assure that the hidden treasure does not fall into Hook's clutches, the young pirate team soon spots Captain Hook being attacked by Tick-Tock the Crocodile. Quickly leaping into action, Izzy uses her pixie dust on herself and her crewmates, allowing the young pirates to save Captain Hook from the hungry crocodile.

Trivia[]

  • In the episode specials "Peter Pan Returns" and "Jake Saves Bucky", Peter Pan was able to produce pixie dust without the assist of Tinker Bell, who didn't appear until the special "Jake's Never Land Rescue".
